Bulk Carrier Explodes When Carrying Corn!

The bulk carrier suffered an explosion on Monday.  The reports state that on Monday afternoon the vessel was loaded with 65,000 tons of Corn and moved to a nearby anchorage for fuel.  One of it’s cargo holds at the port’s anchorage no.1 exploded.

The vessel will remain in the area as teams assess the damage to vessel and clear it sail.  There were no reports of casualties or pollution.

An investigation into the cause of the incident is underway.  The preliminary reports state that a build up of gases in a confined space may be a cause of the explosion.

The vessel was en route to Kaohsiung, China.
