Cargo Ship Ran Aground Off Blacktoft

On Wednesday, a general cargo ship named ‘Rodau’ ran aground at River Ouse near Blacktoft in Goole, United Kingdom.

What happened?

The vessel reportedly got stuck into a mud shallow shortly after leaving Goole en route to Barreiro, Portugal.

Rescue efforts hampered by low tide:

The accident was reported to the local authorities, but salvage operation was complicated due to coming low tide.

Successfully refloated:

Later during the day the ship was refloated at high tide and anchored near the grounding site for inspection.

After it was estimated that there are no damages, the general cargo ship resumed its voyage to Portugal and left Humber estuary.

Investigation underway:

The local authorities initiated investigation to determine the root cause of the accident.

The exact cause of the grounding remains unknown.

Fortunately during the incident there were no people injured or pollution to the environment was reported.
