The reports state that the Panama-flagged Cargo ship sank on Friday approximately 130 nautical miles west of Vigan City, Philippines.  The Vessel has started taking in water and suffered stability problem.  China MRCC alerted the Philippines Coast Guard after receiving the distress call from the ship at 11:20 a.m. Friday.

The Philippines Coast Guard confirmed the incident and said that MT Ashley rescued six crew members on Friday.  An update on Saturday revealed that eight crew members were rescued, and still eleven were missing.

The vessel was en route from Kaohsiung, Taiwan to Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia carrying 7,500 metric tons of feldspar.
