Container Ship Detained After Oil Spill in Bremerhaven

The vessel, en route from Vuosaari, Finland to Copenhagen, Denmark, arrived at the German port and grounded in a sandy shallow.  The initial assessment revealed that there were no damages.  So the vessel was refloated and berthed at the port.

Later, during unloading operations oil spill was discovered near the bow.  Immediately, police boarded the ship and found hydraulic oil leaking from the damaged bow thruster.  The vessel was detained for repair purposes, and the Master was obliged to pay safety fine of 7000 EUR.

The oil spill was contained and the ship continued its voyage after its repairs.
