Crew Crushed by Hatch on Dutch Cargo Ship

On November 16, a crew member onboard the cargo vessel was unfortunately crushed to death by a hatch door.

What happened?

The seaman was unfortunately crushed by a hold hatch during the hold closure process onboard the Dutch cargo vessel ‘Lady Christina’.

The vessel was scheduled to depart from the Rauma port, Finland and proceed towards Pietarsaari, Finland when the incident occurred.

Investigation launched:

An investigation has been launched to determine how the incident occurred and whether all security arrangements were in place.

The vessel has been detained at the Rauma port for carrying out all formalities, and for further investigation.
