Diana Shipping Announces Time Charter With Uniper

  • Diana Shipping Inc. has entered into time charter contract with Uniper Global Commodities SE.
  • Its 87,146 dwt Post-Panamax dry bulk vessels, the m/v Phaidra will be gross chartered at a rate of US$10,800 per day, minus a 5% commission paid to third parties.
  • The time charter has been set for a period of about fourteen months to about sixteen months and is expected to generate approximately US$4.37 million of gross revenue.

According to an article published in Seanews, Diana Shipping Inc. announced on April 15, a time charter contract with Uniper Global Commodities SE, Düsseldorf, for one of its Post-Panamax dry bulk vessels, the m/v Phaidra.

New charter terms

The gross charter rate is US$10,800 per day, minus a 5% commission paid to third parties, for a period of about fourteen months to about sixteen months. The new charter period is expected to commence on April 11, 2019.

The “Phaidra” is an 87,146 dwt Post-Panamax dry bulk vessel built in 2013. This employment is anticipated to generate approximately US$4.37 million of gross revenue for the minimum scheduled period of the time charter.

Increase in carrying capacity

Upon completion of the previously announced sale of one Panamax dry bulk vessel, the m/v Dione, Diana Shipping Inc.’s fleet will consist of 46 dry bulk vessels (4 Newcastlemax, 14 Capesize, 5 Post-Panamax, 5 Kamsarmax, and 18 Panamax).

Currently, the combined carrying capacity of the Company’s fleet, including the m/v Dione, is approximately 5.6 million dwt with a weighted average age of 9.19 years.
