Fire After Collision Between Ships in Danish Strait

On March 27, a container vessel and a merchant vessel collided in the Danish strait and the collision resulted in a brief fire onboard the vessel.

What happened?

The unnamed container ship and the merchant vessel reportedly collided in the Great Belt strait between the Danish islands of Funen and Zealand. Both the vessel collided north of Romsø.

Fire onboard vessel

The collision also resulted in two containers falling onto the merchant ship and a fire broke out in one of the containers.

it also caused a fire eruption onboard the vessel but it was brief and immediately brought under control by the crew members.

Vessel’s damaged

Both the vessels sustained damages and holes above their water lines and have been anchored at the port for further assessment and repairs.

Fortunately, none of the crew members were injured or oil spill was reported due to the collision.
