1796

On January 19, a cement carrier was reportedly attacked by pirate mother ship and the guards were successfully able to thwart the attack.

What happened?

The cement carrier ‘NACC Valbella’ was reportedly transiting through south of Mukallah, Yemen when it was attacked by a pirate mother ship.

The vessel was escorted by maritime security firm LSS-SAPU when it came under attack and the guards onboard the vessel thwarted the attack by lighting warning flares and opened fire against the pirates.

Pirates flee

Once the guards onboard the vessel opened fire, the pirates abandoned the attack and fled from the scene. Fortunately, the cement carrier did not suffer material damage and no injuries were reported.

An investigation has been initiated to determine the origin of the fires and whether any vessel had come under their attack.
