- India, Portugal sign MoU to develop National Maritime Heritage Complex at Lothal in Gujarat.
- The MoU will pay the way for cooperation between the two countries for showcasing common Maritime Heritage.
India along with Portugal shake their hands and inked an MoU for the development of the National Maritime Heritage Complex (NMHC) at Lothal, Gujarat, reports Safety4sea.
The MoU was signed from the President of Portugal H.E.Mr Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa and the Minister of National Defense of Portugal, Shri Mansukh Mandaviya.
Access to Maritime heritage
NMHC will consolidate all diverse and rich artifacts from ancient to modern times. It will provide access to the public and make them aware of India’s rich Maritime Heritage.
With entering the Agreement with the Republic of Portugal, it will open avenues for cooperation to promote Maritime Transport between the two countries. This will facilitate for
- better operation of their merchant fleets,
- cooperation to harmonize and unified their position with International Organization Institution, forums and conferences related to Maritime and Port activities.
It will also help both the countries to coordinate accession to international conventions so that the objectives of this Agreement can be strengthened.
Sharing of mutual maritime knowledge
Through the agreement, Portugal and India will share their experience, technical, design know-how and maintenance service expertise for the establishment of the National Heritage Complex.
Moreover, the two countries inked a cooperation agreement in order to collaborate in the field of the Maritime Transport and Ports.
