Norwegian Bulk Carrier Suspect in Hit and Run, South China Sea

Passing cargo ship collided with Vietnamese fishing vessel TG 94169 TS in the afternoon June 20 some 14 nm off the coast in Vung Tau area, Vietnam, South China sea.

What happened?

Cargo ship fled the scene after collision, fishing vessel sank, 12 crew were rescued by nearby fishing vessel, and later transferred to Coast Guard ship, no injures reported.

Case of hit & run:

According to fishermen and CG, hit & run ship was a Norwegian bulk carrier SPAR LYRA, en route from Vung Tau Vietnam to Singapore. As of 0600 UTC June 22, vessel was anchored on Singapore Anchorage.
