Carnival Corporation has signed a €30million deal to build and operate its second private cruise terminal in the Port of Barcelona, one of the busiest cruise ports in the world.

Construction of the new terminal building, the seventh to be built in Barcelona’s port, is due to begin in 2016 and is expected to open for business as early as 2018.  Once completed, it will be one of the largest cruise terminals in Europe with a total area of 11,500 square metres (37730 square feet).

The agreement with the Barcelona Port Authority has given Carnival administrative concessions to operate the new terminal, which will have the capacity for 4,500 passengers.  Carnival will also collaborate with the Port Authority to build the first public car park on the cruise pier.
