Russia is increasing its military presence in Syria recently.  The US and Nato are not happy about that report.

Russia, which is a key ally of Syria, said that it has just sent its military experts.

Nato chief Jens Stoltenberg said if confirmed, Russia’s involvement would not help to solve the conflict.

Its argued that since Moscow had been openly supplying weapons and sending military specialists to Syria for a long time, sending additional aircraft and tank landing ships to Russia’s naval base in Syria should not be seen as new.

Russia and the US disagree deeply on many things on Syria.  John Kerry warned Mr Lavrov on Wednesday that if the reports were found to be true, “it could lead to greater violence”.  The German and French foreign ministers have also warned against a further military escalation.

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s regime has been at war with various rebel groups since 2011, in a conflict that has so far killed at least 240,000 people.
