Ship with Drunken Master Detained in Great Belt

On April 17, a cargo vessel was detained when it was approaching the Great Belt, Denmark.

What happened?

The general cargo ship ‘Rix Partner’ was detained by the Vessel Traffic Control Center over suspicions when it was approaching the Great Belt Bridge from north. The vessel was en route from Frederiksvaerk Denmark to Papenburg Germany.

Master found drunk

A police boat was dispatched to intercept the vessel and a team comprising of police and Navy boarded the vessel.

Upon inspection, the team was shocked to discover the Russian captain of the vessel drunk at the ship’s control.

Vessel anchored

The cargo vessel was detained by the officials and brought to anchor to anchor south of bridge.

The captain has been subjected to blood test and will be detained once the results are positive.
