Sinopec, China’s largest oil refining company, schedules the production capability of 10 million tons of low-sulfur marine fuel oil by 2020 and attainment of 15 million tons by 2023, reports Seatrade Maritime News.
Zhoushan and other China major ports covered
Sinopec also committed to building the sales and supply network of low-sulphur marine fuel oil.
Zhoushan and other China major ports will be fully covered with Sinopec production by 1 January 2020, and over 50 major overseas ports will be covered with Sinopec supply.
Production research and development project launched
Sinopec launched a project in production research and development of the greener low-sulphur marine fuel oil in 2017.
Ten Sinopec refineries located in coastal cities have been projected to produce low-sulphur marine fuel oil. Among the ten locations, Shanghai, Jinling and Hainan have successively produced the IMO compliant marine fuel earlier this year.
Clean Water and Blue Sky campaign
Liu Zurong, the executive director and party secretary of Sinopec Fuel Oil Sales Co., Ltd, said that Sinopec Fuel Oil is the professional business arm with expertise in the global marine fuel business of Sinopec.
A well-established business network that covers China’s coastal ports has been set up. Meanwhile, the supply capacity of up to 40 major ports abroad has been developed.
In 2013, Sinopec allocated RMB20.9bn into the Clean Water and Blue Sky protection campaign for environment protection and emission reduction.
