Svitzer Hermod to Refloat Grounded Vessel

A salvage plan drawn by a shipping company and a vessel’s insurance company.

What happened?

The salvage plans chartered by the shipping company and the insurance company of the vessel ‘BBC Lagos’ has now been approved. The vessel has ran aground due to unfavourable conditions.

On August 5, the vessel was refloated when the conditions were favourable for refloating.

Precautionary measures in place

The salvage crew had placed necessary precautionary measures in place to handle any incidents such as oil spill.

Tug refloats vessel

The Danish tug ‘Svitzer Hermod’ was called from Helsingborg to assist the salvage operations and the Coastguard vessels ‘KBV 034’ and ‘KBV 432’ were called in for assistance.

The vessel was refloated by ‘Svitzer Hermod’ jointly with the Faroes Islands-flagged tug ‘Sund’ and was escorted into the port of Helsingborg.
