Tanker Broke in Two, Two Ships Pushed Aground Off Hongkong

As of August 23, typhoon ‘Hato’ has been wreaking havoc on a number of ships in the Hong Kong waters.

What happened?

The typhoon ‘Hato’ as now now affected 4 vessel and resulted in the breaking of a tanker into two. The Guangzhou Traffic Control Center are flooded with distress calls raised by numerous ships seeking help.

Vessels affected:

Namey four vessels, the tanker ‘Rainbow Island’ with 23 crew members onboard was assisted by SAR vessels after it was grounded due to the typhoon. The container ship ‘Hon Chun’ with 30 crew members onboard was also assisted by SAR vessels and is reportedly safe. The vessel ‘Gen No.8’ has also been grounded by the typhoon with two other coastal ships Kai Shun You 7 and Xin Hua Tai reportedly being affected by the typhoon.

The SAR ships and boats have been assisting the affected vessels and crew members. A number of other vessels have also been affected and details about the affected vessels is not available as of now.
