Tanker Feared to be Hijacked

On August 13, a tanker was reported missing in the Gulf of Guinea and efforts on contacting the vessel went in vain.

What happened?

The tanker ‘Pantelena’ was travelling in the Gulf of Guinea when it went missing. The tanker loaded with oil was enroute from Lome to Libreville when the incident occurred.

Feared to be hijacked

Efforts taken to establish contact with the tanker were fruitless. A total of seventeen crew members were aboard the tanker when it went missing.

The owner of the tanker and executives from the shipping company have expressed their fears that the tanker might have been hijacked.

Investigation initiated

An investigation has been launched to trace the missing tanker and the condition of its crew members.
