Tanker Hit Railway Bridge

On July 1, a tanker allided with a railway bridge in Venlo and the bridge sustained minor damages during the incident.

What happened?

The tanker ‘Ecotanker III’ allided with the railway bridge in Venlo due to navigation issues and the bridge suffered slight damages during the allision.

The tanker was loaded with diesel and enroute from Rotterdam to Roermond on the Maas berthed at the Belfeld lock when the incident occurred.

Bow crushed on impact

The tanker sustained minor damages during the allision incident and its bow was crushed due to the impact of the allision.

The traffic over the the bridge was stopped as a precaution measure until further survey has been carried out to determine its worthiness.
