Detritus continues to wash ashore on the New South Wales Hunter coast after more than 80 shipping containers fell from a cargo ship that was struck in a storm at sea.
Authorities say the material is not hazardous, but there is concern for marine life.
An investigation is expected soon into possible causes, apart from the weather, but one shipping expert says it’s likely the ship had structural failures and the incident raises questions about the liability for losses and the environmental damage.
