Worker Found Dead in Enclosed Space of the Ship in Norfolk

On July 19, a worker working in a confined area on a ship conducting repairs was found dead in Colonna’s Shipyard, Norfolk.  

According to emergency dispatchers, EMS crews responded to Colonna’s Shipyard in the 400 block of E. Indian River Road around 4.20 a.m. after someone found the man dead on a ship.

Daniel Hudson wit Norfolk Police says the worker, a 54-year-old man got inside a confined area for repairs.  He says there were no obvious signs of how he died.

Crews are working to remove the body from the ship, according to dispatchers.

Police are investigating the incident as an undetermined death, and are not looking for any suspects.
