World’s Largest Container Ship Crosses Suez Canal

On December 18, the World’s largest container vessel has reportedly transited through the Suez canal.

What happened?

The vessel ‘OOCL Hong Kong’ was enroute from Netherlands to Singapore.

An official source from the Suez Canal authority has confirmed the incident. The vessel was carrying around 220,000 tonnes when it crossed the Suez canal. The large container vessel was reportedly accompanied by a Suez Canal authority vessel until it completed the journey of 10 hours.

Specifications of the vessel:

The vessel is 400 meters long and contained 21,400 containers when it transited through the Suez canal. The vessel has been built by OOCL to transport many goods in a single ship and at the same time reducing transportation costs.
