27 Containers Lost in the Atlantic from Vessel

At least 27 containers were lost in the Atlantic in vicinity 38 40N 019 30W, east of Azores, early in the morning Nov 20. and 90 were damaged, reports Maritime Bulletin.

SEROJA LIMA didn’t reach the port of destination, she was diverted to Freeport Bahamas on Nov 26, berthed at Freeport the same day.

Main Suspect

As of Nov 27, she was still at Freeport. Container ship SEROJA LIMA is the main suspect.

She was in the area, in or near the position where containers were spotted, crossing it in the evening Nov 19.

Containers were spotted and reported in the morning Nov 20, probably several hours after they’ve been lost. She’s en route from King Abdullah Port, Saudi Arabia, to Newark USA, ETA Nov 25.

Interestingly, on Nov 15 2014 SEROJA LIMA lost 27 containers off the port of Ngqura (Coega), South Africa.
