50 Kilos of Cocaine Detained on Ship Bound for Holland

On August 17, the police detained a vessel after discovering 50 kilos of cocaine. The ship was enroute to Holland when it was detained.

What happened?

The drug control police during a routine inspection detained the vessel after discovering 50 kilos of cocaine. The drug consignment was attached to the hull of the ship by the drug peddlers.

The Columbian vessel started its journey from Colombia was proceeding towards Holland with a stopover in Costa Rica.

Intelligence crucial for bust:

The Police received international intelligence about the possibility of a ship carrying cocaine. The officials intercepted the vessel and a subsequent search led to the discovery of two large waterproof sacks attached to the exterior of the ship.

Vessel detained:

The Columbian vessel was detained and its crew members have been arrested. The officials have initiated investigation to determine the persons responsible for this incident.

So far this year, Costa Rica’s police forces have captured over 17.5 tons of cocaine, both in land and sea operations, informed the Public Security Ministry in the wake of an incident at the Moín, Limón port on Costa Rica’s Caribbean coast.
