THE Alliance announces the reinstatement of two transpacific services after a hiatus of nearly six months. The services, Asia-US east coast 4 (EC4/SUEZ1) and US west coast Pacific North 3 (PN3), were suspended temporarily but will resume operations to meet the needs of shippers.
Route Modifications and New Rotations
The revived services will undergo route modifications and include new rotations to optimize operations and cater to evolving market demands. The EC4 service will omit the former call at Hong Kong and divert the loop from transiting the Suez Canal to the Cape of Good Hope on both east and westbound voyages. Meanwhile, the PN3 service will introduce new calls at Hong Kong and Haiphong to enhance connectivity.
Preparations Amidst Alliance Changes
With Hapag-Lloyd set to depart from THE Alliance next February to form Gemini Cooperation with Maersk, THE Alliance is taking steps to maintain competitiveness. Amidst speculation about potential replacements, such as Wan Hai Lines, ONE is collaborating with the Taiwan carrier to launch the Asia-US west coast (AP1) service in May, demonstrating ongoing efforts to adapt to changes within the alliance structure.
