ABS Approves Samsung Heavy Industries’ Ammonia FPSO Design

ABS reports that it has issued an approval in principle (AIP) to Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) for its new design of ammonia floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) unit, called Samsung Ammonia Blue.

Safety and Production Capacity

The concept Samsung Ammonia Blue is touted to have components concerning safety, wherein 1.2 million tonnes per annum of ammonia are expected for production. Through design reviews, class and statutory requirements on the topside process, interface system, and layout were completed by ABS.

Industry Collaboration
