Drewry’s new Intra-Asia Container Index (IACI), a weighted average of regional spot container freight rates, decreased 15% to $500 per 40ft container in the past fortnight, according to an article published on its website.

- Drewry’s Intra-Asia Container Index (IACI) dropped 15% in the first two weeks of October to a 7-month low, reaching $500 per 40ft container, as spot rates on some intra-Asia routes decreased by more than 30% in just 2 weeks.
- The Intra-Asia Container Index a weighted average of spot rates on 18 major lanes within Asia, has declined for 6 consecutive fortnights, from a peak of $1,025 per 40ft in the first half of July, but remains 34% higher YoY. Drewry expects this downtrend to continue in the second half of October.
