Malaysian-owned vessel is the latest ship to be detained this week in the Lion Republic.

A second small clean tanker has been arrested in as many days in Singapore, latest court documents show.

The 8,000-dwt Semua Selamat (built 2008) was detained by the local admiralty sheriff on the orders of law firm Gurbani & Co.

AIS data shows the ship presently moored off Singapore’s Western Petroleum A Anchorage (AWPA) in position 01° 24.10’N, 103° 80.18’E.

The exact details as to why the ship has been arrested remain unclear, but it is likely to be related to outstanding payments for services.

Online valuations platform VesselsValue says the Chinese-flagged tanker is estimated to be worth in the region of $7.44m.

Semua Shipping owns six product tankers which have a capacity of 8,000-dwt each.  All of the vessels are said to be on long term charters with Shell Malaysia.

In May of this year Malaysian investment company R&A Telecommunication Group agreed to pay MYR 150m ($37.3m) to acquire Semua Shipping.

Earlier this week Singapore’s admiralty sheriff arrested Viet Trust Shipping’s 6,700-dwt Viet Tin Lucky (built 1996).

The Vietnamese chemical tanker was detained for what is thought to be a dispute over unpaid bunkers.
