On September 13, five sailors were reported missing after two ships collided with each other off Singapore waters.
What happened?
The Indonesian-registered tanker reportedly collided with a Dominican-registered dredger. A total of 12 crew members onboard the dredger were rescued and taken to hospital. The crew members onboard the tanker were not injured during the incident.
Dredger partially submerged:
Singapore Maritime Port Authority said in a statement, “The dredger capsized and was partially submerged, while the tanker was damaged on one side”.
SAR efforts launched:
The authorities are conducting rescue operations and have deployed search vessels and a helicopter. An investigation has also been launched to determine the sequence of events leading to collision.
