  • A small tug boat pushed a huge warship into port by nudging its back end
  • L.É. William Butler Yeats was returning to Haulbowline Naval Base, Ireland
  • The manoeuvre went without a hitch as the boat slid perfectly into place

This is the incredible moment a small tug boat pushes a giant warship into port with expert precision.

The ship, L.É. William Butler Yeats, completely dwarfs its smaller counterpart which can be seen nudging the warship into Haulbowline Naval Base in south Ireland, near Cork.

After smoothly sailing into port the tug boat begins its task of parking the huge boat, which appears to be no small feat.

By gently jabbing the back-end of the ship the tug boat is able to push it eye-wateringly close to another ship which is parked paralell.

It appears that the small boat has done an excellent job of parking up the boat in the Naval Base.

The warship is a Samuel-Beckett-class offshore patrol vessel of the Irish Navel Service.

LE William Bulter Yeats is the third in a series of vessels designed by Vard Marine and builty by Babcock Marine Appledore.

After being released from the shipyard in March 2016 it arrived at Haulbowline Naval Base in July 2016.

During a ceremony to commission the ship in Galway it was officially named by the granddaughter of the poet, Caitriona Yeats.

The vessel is 295ft long and 45ft wide and a displacement of 1,900 tonnes, making tug boats skills even more impressive.

Last year LÉ William Butler Yeats set sail for the Mediterranean to relieve the crew of the LÉ Eithne and continue the Naval Services mission to save lives at sea.

LÉ Eithne is also a vessel in the Irish Naval fleet.
