India’s Former President APJ Abdul Kalam Dies

Former Indian President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam (popularly known as ‘Missile Man’) collapsed on Monday while delivering a scientific lecture.  He died at the age of 83.  Dr. Kalam was an eminent scientist, administrator, educationist, writer and above all a true human.  Every person in India revered APJ Kalam, cutting across the boundaries of language, religion, region and other man-made barriers. He is revered in India by everyone cutting across the boundaries of language, religion, region and other man-made barriers.

He served as India’s 11th president from 2002 to 2007.  He pioneered the country’s military missile programme.

India will observe seven days of national mourning.  The former professor’s body will be flown to New Delhi on Tuesday for burial.

“His death is a great loss to the scientific community,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi said. “He took India to great heights. He showed the way.”

He is no more, has passed away but his name is etched permanently in the memory of billions in India.
