Cargo Ship Runs Aground After it Runs into Sandy Shallows

A general cargo ship reportedly ran aground at an anchorage after it ran into shallow sand on Monday.

What happened?

The general cargo ship Daisy ran aground at Azov port anchorage near buoy 128.

The vessel left the shipping way and ran stock into a sandy shallow without suffering damages and breaches.

Tug dispatched:

The accident was reported to SMCC Taman and at the scene of the grounding was sent the tugboat Portovy-22, which assisted with refloating of the freighter.

No pollution or damage reported:

It was estimated that the ship did not suffer any underwater breaches and there were no reports of oil leak.

The cargo ship was inspected and allowed to resume voyage to Rostov-on-Don.

Fortunately during the accident the weather conditions were calm with amicable dog and little wind which played a major part in rescue of the stricken cargo ship.

Investigation underway:

The local authorities have initiated investigation to determine the root cause of the accident.
