Italian coast guard detained a Turkish-flagged cargo ship, which carried around 12 tons of hashish. A tip received from the Turkish police enabled the Italian drug enforcement agency to detain the vessel, identified as Meryem, when it was underway off the Italian coast. Ten Turkish nationals have been arrested on the charges of carrying contraband worth $44 million and the investigation is in progress.
