The first cargo of liquefied natural gas for 2022 has arrived at the FSRU-based LNG import facility on the island of Krk in Croatia as reported by LNG Prime.

LNG Vessel

The 173,400-cbm Kinisis landed at the 140,000-cbm FSRU on Friday, according to LNG Croatia, a state-owned terminal operator.

There was no extra information provided.

In May of last year, this LNG vessel carried cargo to Krk.

The Chandris and K-Line-owned tanker was built in 2018 and primarily transports quantities from the Freeport LNG station in the United States as part of a long-term charter with BP.

It filled LNG in Freeport at the end of December, according to AIS data given by VesselsValue, before delivering the fuel to Krk.

Natural gas

Since the commencement of operations on January 1, 2021, the Croatian FSRU has received 12 US LNG shipments, for a total of 20.

Qatar and Nigeria each sent two cargoes to the facility, while Trinidad & Tobago and Egypt each sent one. The FSRU also took one cargo from each of the Zeebrugge and Dunkirk ports.

Croatia’s first LNG terminal can export up to 2.6 billion cubic metres of natural gas per year into the national grid.

For the next two years, MET, Hungary’s MFGK, and Qatar’s PowerGlobe have booked practically all of the volumes at the Krk facility.
