The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) said that it received a report on an oil spill in south-western coast of Singapore around 9.45 pm on Saturday.  The spill originated from a storage tank containing fuel oil that leaked and flooded the area surrounding the facility owned and managed by petroleum storage company, Tankstore, in Pulau Busing area which was on the south western part of Singapore (West of Pulau Bukom).

A pit wall was immediately dug around the tank to hold the leaked oil, thereby preventing the oil  from contaminating the sea.

Later MPA reported to have confirmed that it has not sighted any oil in the waters off Pulau Busing during its daily checks.

Clean-up operations were still in progress till tuesday, reports say.
