Hong Kong Marine Department issues notice on SOx Emission Rules

The Hong Kong Marine Department has issued a notice to all OGVs that the existing incentive scheme will expire on 25 September 2015.  In order to reap the benefits of  50% reduction in port facility and light dues up to 31 March 2018, all OGVs must be re-registered with the Environmental Protection Department to avail the Extended Incentive Scheme.

To qualify for the incentive scheme, All OGVs berthing in Hong Kong must commit to reduce emissions of sulphur dioxide (SOx) by utilizing marine fuel with sulphur content not more than 0.5%, utilizing liquefied natural gas (LNG) or utilizing an onshore power supply.
