MOL Safety Standard Specifications Rolled Out

The “MOL Safety Standard Specifications” brochure was unveiled by the Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd.

The “MOL Safety Standard Specifications” are exclusive to MOL and go beyond guidelines set out in laws and International treaties. This initiative ensures that MOL preserves a higher level of safety aboard its operated vessels.

The specifications were first implemented in 2006 to draw upon the lessons of its earlier serious marine incidents, and are continually revised and updated based on its past experiences.

The “MOL Safety Standard Specifications” currently comprise of total of 68 items and are envisioned to prevent the following:

  • Collision
  • Grounding
  • Fire
  • Flooding and loss of stability
  • Oil leakage at sea and environmental pollution
  • Workplace accidents

The brochure proclaims some of the specifications chosen and is designed to provide an innate understanding of vessel structure with ample illustrations.
