MOL Takes Delivery of First ‘EeneX’ Coal Carrier

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) has announced that the Kurotakisan Maru III – the first ship in the ‘EeneX’ series of next-generation coal carriers – was delivered on 2nd December at the Oshima Shipbuilding yard.

MOL will operate the Kurotakisan Maru III, which will transport coal for J-POWER plants. The 89,999 DWT vessel is equipped with a SOx scrubber.

MOL said the term EeneX has been coined to combine E (which stands for efficient, ease, ecological, economical and evolve) with X, to convey synergy.
