MSC Zoe To Be Christened At The Hamburg Terminal



Mediterranean Shipping Company S.A is  world’s leading container shipping lines with headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.  MSC’s shipping line sails on more than 200 trade routes, calling at over 315 ports.  MSC Zoe  is their third  ‘Oscar class’ series of 19,224 TEU vessels.  The vessel was built by DSME, in Okpo, South Korea.

The christening ceremony is to be held at the Hamburg terminal. MSC plans to host the ceremony by welcoming the Shipbuilders, the classification society DNV-GL and the local authorities and financiers.

MSC Zoe is named after the daughter of MSC cruise Ship’s Executive Chairman Mr. Pierfrancesco Vago and Mrs. Alexa Aponte Vago.

The christening ceremony is considered very important and is carried out in a traditional fashion by breaking a champagne bottle against the ship’s hull, exchange of the vessels crest and ribbon cutting on the bridge of the ship.  The ceremony shall be attended by friends, family and Mr. Pierfrancesco Vago and Mrs. Alexa Aponte Vago with their 4-year-old daughter Zoe.
