Tall Ships Pull into Port

The Official ship of Washington State – Lady Washington and her companion ship – Hawaiian Chieftain have returned to Ventura County and are now available in Channel Islands Harbor.  It offers public tours and sailing excursions through 15th February.

Sailings:

  • Visitors can learn a sea shanty or help raise a sail aboard a two-hour Adventure Sail on Jan. 31, Feb. 7, and Feb. 14 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
  • The remaining Battle Sails, featuring a recreation of a naval skirmish which features real cannons firing real gunpowder, are Jan. 30-31, Feb. 6-7 and Feb. 13-15 from 2-5 p.m.
  • Additionally, there will be one, two-hour evening sail on Feb. 3 at 4 p.m.
  • Walk-on tours offer a chance for visitors to board the ships at the dock and visit with the crews.
  • The tickets are priced at:
    • Battle Sails: $75 for adults, $67 for students/seniors/active military and $39 for children 12 and under.
    • Adventure Sails: $47 for adults and $39 for children 12 and under.

About the ships:

  • Lady Washington: A wooden-hulled replica of one of the first U.S. flagged ships to visit the West Coast of North America.  It featured in the 2003 Disney movie “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl” as the HMS Interceptor.
  • Hawaiian Chieftain: is a steel-hulled interpretation of an early 19th century coast trader, launched in 1988.
