The world’s largest cargo ship has docked in the United Kingdom, where 3,267 containers are being unloaded as reported by BBC.

Unloading containers

The Ever Ace holds the record for the largest number of containers loaded aboard a single ship.

On Sunday morning, it arrived at the Port of Felixstowe in Suffolk, the UK’s largest and busiest container port.

The 1,300-foot (400-meter) ship can store 23,992 standard containers.

The vessel arrived in the UK from Rotterdam, operated by Taiwanese maritime company Evergreen Marine Corporation.

Global maritime congestion

It was launched in September 2021 and docked at Felixstowe for her maiden voyage.

After loading 2,300 containers, the Ever Ace will depart Felixstowe on Wednesday evening.

Hamburg, Germany, will be its next port of call.

Another of the company’s ships, the Ever Given, closed the Suez Canal in March 2021, causing global maritime congestion.

It was stuck for nearly a week, generating one of the worst shipping traffic bottlenecks ever.

In the midst of a settlement dispute, the 400m-long (1,300ft) ship was imprisoned for more than three months. In August, the Ever Given arrived in Felixstowe, and ship-spotters packed the shore at Landguard Point to witness it.
