Hudong Zhonghua, a key subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation, has received several important approvals as part of its efforts to address the evolving global energy market. These approvals highlight the company’s commitment to innovation and its significant role in the global LNG market, reports AJOT.

Approval in Principle (AiP) Certificates

Hudong Zhonghua was granted AiP certificates for three vessel designs: a 150,000 CBM Ultra Large Ethane Carrier (ULEC), a 40,000 CBM Liquefied Carbon Dioxide (LCO2) carrier, and a 20,000 CBM Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) bunker vessel.

An AiP is an independent assessment that confirms the feasibility of a design, ensuring there are no significant obstacles to its realization.

GASA Certificate for Ammonia Carrier

The shipbuilder also received a GASA certificate for an 88,000 CBM Very Large Ammonia Carrier (VLAC), a design developed in collaboration with DNV through a Joint Development Project (JDP).

This certification further strengthens Hudong Zhonghua’s position in the market for vessels that transport key energy resources.
