Feyza Genc, a Turkish cargo ship ran away when the Maltese authorities arrested it.  The vessel was detained by the coast guard and asked it to remain in Bunking Area 3 until the court proceeding starts.  However, M/V Feyza Genc fled nine miles off the Maltese coast, near the Greek island of Karpathos.  This led to the issuance of a warrant by the Malta Civil Court on July 24.  The ship was charged for 45, 818 euros for the unpaid bunker bills by Cassar Fuel Limited.

The Maltese court would investigate into the matter and indict the operators for infringing the country’s laws.

The ship is owned and operated by the Turkish company GNC Shipping.  The company has denied any misconduct and described the situation as “totally malicious” in a statement.
