Maersk Container Ship Crashes During Cargo Operations

5-containers stack on board of Gerner Maersk container ship crashed during cargo operations at Koper Port, Slovenia, Adriatic Sea, in the afternoon June 13.

Containers fall into sea:

Three fell on pier, two fell into water and were stuck between pier wall and ship’s hull. Containers were loaded with tire, protection films, garden furniture, understood they were destined for Trieste, Gerner Maersk’ next port of call.

Total loss declared:

All five containers, with their load, recognized as total loss. Mishandling said to be the cause of an accident.
