On November 13, cranes were damaged after a containership reportedly allided with them in the port of Alexandria.
The Containership ‘CSCL Yellow Sea’ was detained at the Dekheila port in Alexandria due to allison with a pier at the container terminal.
The containership has reportedly allided with a pier at the container terminal while mooring and subsequently damaged a couple of cranes present near the pier. The allision had occurred to the ship approaching the quay at very high speeds.
Banned from sailing:
The containership has been detained and banned from sailing until a damage cost assessment and a bank guarantee has been furnished.
An investigation has been launched to determine the sequence the events leading to allision. Fortunately, none were injured or pollution to the environment was reported.
