Stateless Ship Up For Auction

Auction

The Libyan government has put up the oil tanker M/T Morning Glory on auction.  Earlier, the vessel that was transporting crude oil from Es Sider to a Libyan port held by anti-government rebels was confiscated by U.S Navy SEALs off Cyprus in March 2014.

The ship is currently stateless and is taken auction on September 10.

Prior to this incident, it is believed that the ship was owned by a Libyan National who had close ties with Ibrahim Jathran, a rebel leader who seized control of three Libyan ports in 2013.

Jathran has given up control over the ports, since his attempt to export oil foiled.  He now is an ally of the Libyan Government.
