The Royal New Zealand Navy’s HMNZS Otago was travelling in the Antarctic Ocean when it was battered by the enormous wave.
As the giant swell hits the 279ft-long ship, nervous laughter can be heard from the passengers.
Amazingly, the water coves the whole ship and for a brief moment nothing can be seen but the white foam of the wave.
Alex Croucher, the creator of the frightening video, told website Motherboard that the Otago was on a patrol mission in the Antarctic Ocean, where storms can be some of the worst in the world.
