A recent news article published in the Funding News Asia states that MSC orders 20 boxships in Asia.

In the latest weekly report, Clarkson Research Services publishes news of a series of bumper orders in Asia by the world’s largest container line, the Mediterranean Shipping Co (MSC).
Clarksons has Soren Toft-led MSC ordering a 148,000 teu LNG-enabled boxship from the Chinese shipyard NewTimes Shipbuilding and six more 7,900 teu units at HD Hyundai (formerly known as Hyundai Heavy Industries) in South Korea. I have reported that I have ordered. All units will be delivered in 2025. The price of Chinese vessels is not disclosed, but Korean vessels cost $ 134.3 million per unit.
MSC operating a fleet of over 5 million slots soon
Billions of dollars have increased MSC’s lead at the top of the liner rankings, with orders quadrupled from second-placed Maersk in orbit with MSC operating a fleet of over 5 million slots soon. Will be the world’s first airline to do so.
It started in 1970 with a used German-made ship of only 2,900 dwt, was acquired by Hapag-Lloyd and renamed.
Patricia, MSC currently operates 664 vessels, of which 186 have been purchased in the second hand market since August 2020.
This is the largest fleet buildup in 66 years of containerization.
