Tanker And Containership Collision

Product tanker ORION EXPRESS collided with container ship HAIAN CITY at around 0430 UTC Apr 14 some 15 nm south of Chittagong, Bangladesh, says an article published in the maritime bulletin.

Accident

Both ships according to tracks and AIS records, were under way in Chittagong Anchorage area, proceeding opposite direction – container ship en route from Chittagong to Singapore, tanker approaching Chittagong en route from Singapore. HAIAN CITY lost one or more containers overboard. Both ships sustained damages, details unknown, but container ship had an issue with stability. Both ships were anchored after collision at Chittagong Anchorage. Tanker AIS is on, container ship AIS 3 hours late, as of 1610 UTC.
