- A Singapore court today sentenced BP’s former eastern regional director for marine fuels to 4½ years jail.
- Chang Peng Hong Clarence was legally punished for taking bribes from bunker firm Pacific Prime Trading (PPT).
- Koh Seng Lee, the executive director of Singapore-based PPT, was jailed for the same amount of time.

The duo were found to be guilty
Chang and Koh were found guilty on 20 corruption charges last year.
A Singapore district court ruled at the time that Chang had accepted bribes totalling almost $4mn from Koh on 19 occasions between July 2006 and July 2010 to advance PPT’s business interests with BP.
Chang, who was also ordered to pay a penalty of S$6.2mn ($4.7mn), is facing separate money laundering charges, Singapore’s Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau said today.
Singapore, the least corrupt country
Singapore is one of the least corrupt countries in the world, ranked third in campaign group Transparency International’s latest survey.
But the city-state’s commodity sector has been hit by several high-profile court cases over the last year, including the collapse of major oil trading firm Hin Leong that exposed fraud allegations against its founder Lim Oon Kuin.
