5000 Luxury Liner Passengers Quarantined for Coronavirus

Nearly 5,000 cruise passengers and 1,249 crew were screened for Coronavirus and 148 were isolated for stricter screening, reports Maritime Bulletin.

Cruise ship passengers examined

Cruise ship COSTA VENEZIA, after a 6-day cruise to Vietnam reached Shenzhen port, southeastern China near Hong Kong, on Jan 26. 

On arrival, the cruise ship was boarded by a medical team. All 4973 passengers and 1249 crew were checked by medics for symptoms of fever and pneumonia. 4 were found to have high temperature. 

Isolated for further screening

148 passengers who were residents of Wuhan or visited Wuhan recently, were isolated for a stricter screening. 

Disembark permission and refund of costs

Passengers and crew spent all day on board and were granted permission to disembark in the evening Jan 26. 

Next scheduled cruise was cancelled and 5155 tourists are to be refunded, including the air tickets costs.
